As an organization, Novant Health is committed to diversity. We serve patients from all backgrounds and walks of life; therefore, our team of professionals needs to be just as diverse. In addition to being the right thing to do, we believe that diversity can and should be leveraged to directly impact our strategic goal of achieving superior outcomes. To focus our efforts, we created a Corporate Diversity Strategy that helped us develop our Diversity Vision Statement.

Corporate Diversity Council Role and Responsibilities
- Model and reinforce diversity expectations
- Set and prioritize corporate diversity goals
- Approve major diversity initiatives
- Monitor the diversity initiative for the facilities to ensure adherence to philosophy, values and good business practice
- Provide guidance and/or serve as a resource for diversity in marketing, communications, employment efforts, and other programs
- Make recommendations to the Executive Committee re: annual diversity goals and significant policy changes
Strategic Diversity Priorities
Our goal is to leverage diversity to achieve the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time. We will leverage diversity to:
- Increase customer satisfaction by identifying gaps in satisfaction among multi-cultural and multi-lingual patients, customizing care and mirroring market demographics
- Increase employee engagement by giving leaders the tools to manage diverse work teams, ensuring our workforce is knowledgeable, skilled and engaged, and creating a more inclusive workplace.
- Support market growth and add to the financial vitality of the organization by establishing healthcare as a profession of choice, ensuring communications are relevant to our markets and expanding our diverse supplier base.
- Improve quality outcomes by working with local, state and national partners to reduce healthcare disparities among minorities, and optimizing the working relationships of the care team.
